FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Handy iPhone-based movie-maker’s slate, clapperboard, and shot log for film, video, and home movie production
Bend, Oregon (July 7, 2009) - Professional, independent, and home moviemakers will benefit from a new iPhone app called MovieSlate that is an integrated digital slate, clapper board, shot log, and shot notepad-- designed for use with film, television, documentaries, interviews, and home movies.
Moviemakers can quickly edit production information (such as roll, scene, take) on the slate, photographing it at the start of each shot. Highly customizable, users can tailor the slate’s appearance for each production or shot, choosing from various clapper stick designs, slate background colors, slate fonts, and clock timecode colors.
Moviemakers now have a fast, handy way to log movie footage and take related notes as they shoot-- saving time later when capturing and editing the footage on their computers. With each closing of the slate’s iconic clapper sticks, MovieSlate creates a shot log entry containing complete production info, timecodes, notes-- even finding and saving the location’s street address.
During each shot, users can save multiple timecode-stamped notes-- to help them later import just the footage they need. For instance, when shooting interviews, moviemakers can enter notes to document when a particular question was asked, or when something remarkable was said. Camera assistants can take technical notes about shot composition and camera movement.
Logs and notes can be emailed in several formats, ready for import into computer spreadsheets or databases.
Professional slate prices range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Now moviemakers can carry a digital slate with them all the time and a fraction of the cost.
